LA3 Newsletter - Term Update

Wow, how fast is the year going? We have settled in and been working hard this term.

Literacy

We continued the term reading some fantastic books including Giraffes Can’t Dance by Giles Anderson, and Pete the Cat Rocking in My School Shoes by Eric Litwin then learnt all about lyrebirds by reading Where the Lyrebird Lives by Vikki Conley. We went for a bird walk and took videos of all the birds, listening to their beautiful sounds. Our book wall is looking great with all these wonderful stories. We are looking forward to National Simultaneous Storytime on Wednesday, 21 May 2025, The chosen book for this year is The Truck Cat by Deborah Frenkel, illustrated by Danny Snell.

We've also been learning about the "Th" sound and doing some fantastic reading and comprehension. Additionally, we have been practising our grammar, learning all about full stops and capital letters.

Maths

In Maths, some of us have been working on graphing, creating, and interpreting our own graphs. The rest of us have been learning all about informal units and measuring to decide which items are taller and shorter. We have all continued working hard on our place value and addition skills.

Other Subjects

We have enjoyed our community access time with our weekly shopping expeditions. Some of us have been working hard on our digital technology projects, learning all about animals, and we look forward to presenting them to the class at the end of the term. We made some beautiful gifts for our mums and special people in our lives. We hope you enjoyed them. In Science, we are learning about daytime and nighttime and how the Earth revolves around the Sun. Cooking classes have been all about honing our knife skills, and in Social Skills, we continue working on sharing and playing with others. A big thank you to LA16 for joining us in these activities. We enjoyed making memories together.

Stay tuned for more updates from LA3!
