Around The Classrooms - LA 16
LA 16 Newsletter

We are thrilled to have 10 extraordinary, energetic, and enthusiastic Year 6 students in our class this year! It’s been wonderful to see them adjust so well to our structured daily routine and engage in a balanced academic program that promotes independence and accountability.

Literacy and numeracy remain the core foundations of our students' academic growth, equipping them with essential skills for success in all areas of learning, from problem-solving to communication. This term, our literacy program focuses on reading comprehension, vocabulary building, and creative writing. Numeracy activities emphasize hands-on learning with counting, problem-solving, and basic arithmetic, all aimed at strengthening these foundational skills and boosting student confidence.

We believe physical health is just as important as academic growth! Our daily fitness program, including stretching, running, and group games, keeps our bodies active and healthy. The Jiggle Jam fitness sessions have been the highlight this term, energizing students with fun dance routines and activities that promote coordination, teamwork, and physical fitness, all while keeping them cool and active on warm summer days.

We’re encouraging healthy habits through our "Crunch & Sip" program, where students enjoy a mid-morning break with fresh fruits from our garden beds, as well as additional fruits generously provided by our local Woolworths store. This initiative supports healthy eating and helps maintain focus throughout the school day.

In Chemical Science, students are diving into exciting hands-on experiments that explore materials, reactions, and the states of matter. This engaging approach sparks curiosity and deepens their understanding of the world around them.

Our classroom is also embracing digital technology, offering students a chance to explore educational programs like Starfall, Top Marks, ABCya, and Google Music Lab. These tools foster an interactive and engaging learning experience, broadening students’ understanding of digital technology in an enjoyable way.

Through our Community Access program, students participate in real-life experiences outside the classroom to develop essential social skills, build confidence, and connect with our local community. These activities encourage personal growth and create meaningful learning opportunities.

We’ve been focusing on fine motor and sensory skill development through activities that enhance hand-eye coordination, dexterity, and sensory processing. Students have been engaging in various hands-on exercises that are crucial for their overall development and well-being.
We are excited about the progress students are making in all these areas and look forward to more growth and learning as the term continues.
