Wow, it's hard to believe how quickly this term is flying by! With only four weeks remaining, the time ahead will be busy and exciting. We have Harmony Day on Friday, March 21st, and we encourage all parents to have their children wear orange to school if possible. The day will be filled with Harmony Day activities in class.
Looking ahead to next term, we'll continue the celebrations with a Cultural Celebration Day, which will feature a special assembly and whole-school activities for students.
Swimming lessons are just around the corner, and classes have already begun preparing students for them. If your child is attending swimming lessons, we kindly ask that you also take some time to talk with them about water safety, bus rides, and any changes to their usual school routine.
I’ve been enjoying walking around the Centre, checking in on the classrooms, and it’s been wonderful to witness the engaging, fun educational activities happening throughout the school. The students are incredibly settled and highly engaged, and the staff are doing a fantastic job building positive relationships and fostering social connections among the students.
Kind regards,
Sarah

The past few weeks in our classroom, art and imagination were in full bloom! Students spent time tearing paper to create vibrant, one-of-a-kind collages. As the collages took shape, so did their confidence and creativity. We also embraced the spirit of Valentine’s Day, with students crafting their own adorable love bugs. With bright colours, googly eyes, and heart-shaped wings, these little creatures became symbols of friendship, kindness, and fun.

In literacy, our classroom came alive with tactile experiences! Students had the opportunity to practice their spelling by tracing words in colourful sands which helped them connect with the letters in a fun, sensory way. We also incorporated playdough into our spelling practice, allowing students to mould the letters and shape words with their hands. This hands-on approach not only made learning to spell more engaging but also gave our students the chance to explore language in a creative and interactive way.

In numeracy, our students explored measurement in an interactive way! We began by using informal units like paperclips and unifix cubes to measure objects around the classroom. This hands-on approach helped students understand the concept of length and measurement, making it both fun and practical. We also learned how to measure accurately in centimetres using a ruler, giving our students the skills to move from informal to formal units of measurement.
But the learning didn’t stop there! We dove into the world of data collection by conducting a classroom survey on our favourite fruits using bright post-it notes. After gathering our data, students used playdough to create a pictograph, transforming their findings into a colourful, visual representation.
